One desk, worked out.

This is what the planner gives back for a real set of numbers. Yours comes from your own tape measure.

Try it with your numbers

You entered Seated, elbow 26 in, eye 45 in, desk 29 in, one 27-inch 2560 x 1440 screen at 26 in

  1. KeyboardKeyboard is 4 in above your elbows: raise the chair 4 in (a footrest if your feet no longer rest flat)
  2. Screen heightThen put the bottom of the picture about 3.9 to 6.4 in above the desk
  3. The screen27-inch 16:9 is 23.5 x 13.2 in, 108.8 pixels per inch; try 125% scaling

Distances follow the OSHA computer workstation eTool; the scaling step is a rule of thumb.

How it works

Three steps, one tape measure.

  1. Measure yourself

Sit (or stand) the way you work, feet flat, shoulders relaxed, upper arms hanging down. Measure from the floor to the underside of your elbow, and from the floor to your eyes. That is all the Desk Fit planner needs from you.

  2. Plan the desk

Enter the desk height, your screens and how far away they sit. The planner says how much to move the chair (or a standing desk), how high each screen goes and whether everything fits across the desk.

  3. Know the screen

Screen Math turns "27 inch, 2560 x 1440" into real inches, pixels per inch and a Windows scaling starting point, and lines up to 4 screens side by side so you can compare before you buy.

Desk Card

Save it on a Desk Card.

A private Desk Card keeps your desks, so the numbers are there the next time the chair gets bumped or you move rooms. No account, no email: you get a private link.
